Netflix has a Tomb Raider anime in the works, and Amazon is making a live-action series with the help of writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for her roles in Fleabag and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Tomb Raider Reloaded appears to be a nudge in a larger push to bring Lara Croft back to screens everywhere. Returning to voice Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Reloaded is Keeley Hawes, the veteran actor who has brought Lara to life in Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and other games. But the only way to spin the wheel is to watch one of the many third-party advertisements that bog down the game and can even cause it to crash or freeze. In another head-scratching decision, Lara will occasionally come across a room with a giant wheel to spin for bonus loot. Mind you, the enemies in each room have no problems moving and attacking at the same time, but this is apparently too much for the iconic adventurer to handle. This would be fine except for the mind-boggling fact that Lara can shoot only from a stationary position. Instead, the game uses a combination of auto-aim and auto-fire. For starters, players don't control Lara's shooting. The gameplay in Tomb Raider Reloaded makes little sense. Tomb Raider Reloaded is a free-to-play mobile action arcade and will be available on Android and iOS sometime in 2021. The problem is that once you strip away the Tomb Raider aesthetic, you're left with a game that just doesn't feel right. Emerald City Games and Square Enix announced their upcoming title ‘Tomb Raider Reloaded’ with a new trailer. On the upside, the game's art style, while cartoonish, still manages to do a decent job with overall look of the Tomb Raider franchise. This free-to-play mobile action title feels more like it was meant to be something completely different, but at the last minute someone decided to change the lead to Lara Croft, toss in a couple of obligatory references to past games, and then call it a day. A successful IP coming to mobile via a simple gameplay loop, coupled with a currency-laden enhancement. When is a Tomb Raider game not a Tomb Raider game? Apparently, when it's Tomb Raider Reloaded. Tomb Raider Reloaded, on paper, sounds like every mobile gaming detractor's worst nightmare.
